Client Stories

Past engagements, described in general terms so that no client is identifiable. They show the kind of situations we help with, and how our work fits alongside the professionals our clients instruct.

01

Contentious Probate

A widow acting as joint executor wanted to carry out her late husband's wishes. The other executor was obstructive and pursuing their own agenda. We helped her understand the routes available to her, and she instructed experienced solicitors to deal with the removal of the executor. The will was executed as intended and her inheritance protected.

02

Bankruptcy & Insolvency

A property developer suffered a run of setbacks: a contractor went under owing hundreds of thousands of pounds of borrowed money, the bank moved to repossess his home, and then Covid hit. We worked through the finance with him and helped restructure it to protect the family home. When debtor pressure continued, we helped him assess the position commercially and he concluded the business could not be saved — liquidation and bankruptcy followed. He has since rebuilt.

03

Divorce & Finances

A client had stayed in an unhappy marriage for years before accepting that divorce was inevitable. She had instructed a family lawyer, but wanted support with the financial side. We acted as a professional, sympathetic sounding board and helped her analyse the finances. She reached a settlement she was satisfied with.

04

Debt Collection

A telecommunications provider had signed a client to a 24-month contract. After 12 months the client stopped paying and walked away. We reviewed the signed contracts with him and supported him in issuing a claim through the small claims court. The claim succeeded.

05

Property Purchase

A solicitor had grown his practice by taking more and more serviced office space, and buying a dedicated office began to look sensible. He found the right building but had no background in property or finance. We arranged the survey and the financial feasibility, appointed and negotiated with contractors, and helped him raise the finance.

06

Corporate Restructure

The principal shareholder of a claims management company had plenty of pipeline business but was running out of working capital. We worked through the company structure with him and modelled the options. He decided to buy out the other shareholders, which cut the wage bill and protected the pipeline. We helped him raise the finance, and the business became sustainable.
